Sanjeev Arora, the newly elected MLA from Ludhiana West, was sworn in as a minister in the Punjab Cabinet on Thursday. The oath ceremony took place at the Punjab Raj Bhawan, where Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administered the oath of office and secrecy.

This marks the seventh time the Punjab Cabinet has been expanded during the over three-year rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Dressed in a yellow kurta-pyjama – a color often associated with AAP – Arora took his oath in Punjabi.

His official portfolio hasn’t been announced yet, but sources suggest he might be given a department that focuses on urban issues and voters.

The ceremony, led by Punjab’s Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, was brief and lasted just six minutes. It began and ended with the National Anthem.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his wife Gurpreet Kaur Mann, along with other ministers and dignitaries, attended the event.
