Even though the case of the alleged assault on Army Colonel Pushpinder Bath and his son has now been handed over to the CBI, no results have come from the three earlier investigations ordered by the Punjab Government.
Patiala Police have now assured that they will complete the long-pending departmental inquiry.
Before Chandigarh Police took over the case in April, separate probes had already been started by the Punjab Police, the state government, and the Home Affairs Department. But in this four-month-old case, not a single police officer has been arrested yet.
The incident happened on the night of March 13, when Col Bath and his son were allegedly attacked by policemen. His wife, Jaswinder Kaur Bath, said that the family was never informed about the progress or outcome of the three earlier probes.
“We were hoping the departmental inquiry, which was promised by former SSP Nanak Singh, would be completed. He had said it would be done in 45 days, but nothing has happened yet,” she said. She also appreciated the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s recent order to transfer the case to the CBI.
