The Opposition has hit out at the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab after it suspended Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, its MLA from Amritsar. They claim the real reason for his suspension is that he spoke out against top leaders in the party who are allegedly involved in the drug trade.

Singh has been openly critical of his own government lately. After the recent spurious liquor tragedy in Amritsar, he said that people behind the illegal liquor business are now part of the government and controlling things from the inside.

He also questioned why the government has failed to deliver justice in the sacrilege cases that have deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Punjab.
