Four outsourced employees of the Municipal Corporation (MC) were fired after they were caught drinking alcohol at the Sector 25 Community Centre. They were found during a surprise evening inspection of community centres across the city.

MC Commissioner Amit Kumar ordered the immediate dismissal of Shakti and Gurjeet from the horticulture department, and Robin and Ajay Kumar from the buildings and roads department. They were found drinking inside the office of the community centre.

A show-cause notice has also been issued to the Junior Engineer (JE) in charge of the Sector 25 centre, holding him accountable for its upkeep. He has been asked to appear in person at the Commissioner’s office by 12 noon tomorrow.

The Commissioner also directed all Executive Engineers and Junior Engineers to closely monitor and responsibly manage all MC properties, especially community centres.
