Despite the deployment of anti-drone technology, drone intrusions from across the Pakistan border continue. In the last 24 hours, the Border Security Force (BSF) has brought down four drones—three in Amritsar and one in Tarn Taran—seizing a pistol and 1.15 kg of heroin.
According to a BSF spokesperson, unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted entering Indian territory near the Pul Moran border village during the night between Sunday and Monday. The BSF quickly activated its anti-drone system and successfully shot down three China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones. These drones were carrying a pistol and two packets of heroin.
In another case, a drone crash-landed in a paddy field near Dal village in Tarn Taran. It was spotted during a joint search operation by the BSF and Punjab Police. The DJI Air 3 drone was found empty, and authorities suspect the smuggled items were already picked up before they arrived.
Earlier this month, on the night of July 17-18, BSF foiled several drone smuggling attempts, shooting down six drones and recovering 2.34 kg of heroin near Pul Moran and Roranwala Khurd villages.
In yet another operation on July 24, BSF gunned down six drones and seized three pistols along with over 1 kg of contraband. Five of these were recovered from Modhe village and one from Attari.
