ABOUT BABA BANDA SINGH BAHADUR?

On this day in 1670, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was born in Amritsar. You may have heard him called Laxman Dev or perhaps Madho Das.

During the reign of the Mughals in India, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was the first Sikh general to go to battle. In his time, he was dedicated to defending and protecting those who were in distress.

He became known as Madho Das after leaving home at 15 to become a Hindu ascetic. Nanded, on the banks of the Godavari River, is where he established a monastery. Madho Das Bairagi was not in his tent when Guru Gobind Singh and several Sikhs arrived at his ashram in September 1708.

They set up camp in an area where they could cook and eat together. In September 1708, he arrived in Amritsar and joined Guru Gobind Singh’s order, where the Guru gave him the name Banda Bahadur.

In 1708, Guru Gobind Singh despatched Banda Singh to Punjab to assist him in putting a stop to the brutality of the rulers of Punjab, punishing the guilty and harsh, fighting for human rights, empowering and encouraging the poor, the oppressed, and slaves alike.

They couldn’t imagine a life without freedom for them. Five Sikhs were all that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur needed to start empowering people. If nothing else, the Guru’s spiritual imperative was enough to unite the pantheon of disciples of all ages and backgrounds.

The Guru’s teachings so moved him in Nanded that he refused to stop learning about the Guru’s purity, power, and the slaughter of his sons and other Sikhs while traveling to Punjab with his Sikh comrades.

Disconnectivity under Niti. As a result of all this, his rage becomes stronger, and his desire to punish the oppressors grows.
