The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made another breakthrough in the 2024 Jiribam murder case by arresting a key accused linked to the brutal killing of three women and three children in Manipur.

According to officials, Lalrosang Hmar, also known as Rosang, was taken into custody from Aizawl, Mizoram, on Thursday. He hails from Moinathol village and Dilkhosh Grant of Cachar, Assam. The arrest follows closely after the capture of another accused, Thanglienlal Hmar, who was also caught in Aizawl by a joint team of the NIA and Assam Police.

The NIA said Lalrosang was a main conspirator in the horrific incident, just like Thanglienlal. A mobile phone and SIM card have been recovered from him and are now being examined for further leads.

The crime, which took place on November 11 last year in the Borebekra area of Jiribam district, involved the abduction and brutal killing of six victims — three women and three children. Their bodies were later dumped in the Barak River.
