BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan on Wednesday raised a concern in the Lok Sabha, demanding a law to regulate the prices of food items served at hotels, restaurants, and dhabas. He said there is no consistency in food prices or quality across different places. “At one dhaba, a samosa is sold at one price, and at another, it’s completely different. Even the size of the samosa varies,” he pointed out.
He added that the same dish, like Dal Tadka, is priced at ₹100 in some places, ₹120 elsewhere, and even as high as ₹1,000 in certain hotels.Ravi Kishan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing many positive changes but said this issue of unregulated food pricing hasn’t been addressed yet. He urged the government to introduce a law that ensures fair pricing, quality, and quantity of food so that customers aren’t overcharged.
Meanwhile, another BJP MP, Damodar Agarwal, raised the issue of illegal mining in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, by Jindal Saw Ltd. He claimed the mining has caused serious environmental damage and continues despite public protests. He demanded that the central government take strict action to stop it.
