A day after the BJP government launched a strong attack on the Congress and its leaders in the Lok Sabha, Congress has responded sharply. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Chief Whip Jairam Ramesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of being overly fixated on India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

“Yesterday in the Lok Sabha, both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister once again displayed what can only be described as an obsessive focus on Nehru. In medical terms, it’s like an obsessive-compulsive disorder,” Ramesh said. He also hinted that a similar attitude might be seen in the Rajya Sabha.

Ramesh alleged that both leaders use Nehru as a distraction. “They don’t have real answers to questions about their current governance and failures. Instead of having a meaningful discussion, they choose to divert attention, distort facts, and defame others,” he said.

Taking a jibe at Amit Shah, Ramesh added, “The Home Minister claims to be a historian, but he’s actually one of the biggest ‘distorians’. The top spot, though, goes to someone with a degree in ‘Entire Political Science’,” referring to PM Modi.
