He added that their sacrifice will continue to inspire generations.
In 1999, Pakistani troops had secretly taken control of key mountain positions in Kargil, aiming to cut off Kashmir from Ladakh. But the Indian Army responded with a strong counter-offensive and recaptured the territory.
