In a surprising move, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anmol Gagan Maan has stepped down as the MLA from Kharar and announced that she is quitting politics altogether.She handed over her resignation to Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and asked for it to be accepted without delay.
A well-known singer before entering politics, Anmol Gagan Maan was elected from the Kharar constituency in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. She later became a cabinet minister, handling important portfolios like tourism, culture, labour, investment promotion, and hospitality. However, she was among four ministers removed from the cabinet last year by the Bhagwant Mann-led government.In a brief message shared on social media, Maan confirmed her exit from political life but did not share the reason behind her decision.
“With a heavy heart, I’ve decided to leave politics. I’ve submitted my resignation as MLA to the Speaker. My best wishes are with the party, and I hope the Punjab government continues to meet the expectations of the people,” she wrote on X in Punjabi.
