On Tuesday, a Vigilance Bureau team raided the office of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in the Majitha Assembly constituency of Amritsar.

Majithia was brought to the office by the Vigilance officials themselves. He is facing serious allegations, including accumulating wealth beyond his known income sources and laundering ₹540 crore in drug-related money.

The raid began at around 3 p.m. and lasted for about an hour and a half. Around 20 vehicles accompanied the team, and tight security was in place throughout the operation. Barricades were set up to block access to the area, preventing the public and SAD workers from entering.

Even Majithia’s wife, Ganieve Kaur, who is also the MLA from Majitha, was stopped from entering. “I told them I only wanted to go in with my lawyer, but they still didn’t allow me,” she said.

Ganieve Kaur called the raid “illegal” and claimed that the Vigilance Bureau had already searched their homes in Amritsar’s Green Avenue, Majitha, and Chandigarh.
