In a major crackdown, Amritsar police have busted two cross-border weapon smuggling networks and arrested four people — including a minor — with seven illegal pistols.
According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, these weapons were meant to escalate gang wars and disturb peace in the region. He shared that the accused were in contact with smugglers based in Pakistan and had recently picked up a consignment near the Indo-Pak border.
The arrested individuals include Sikanderjeet Singh from Bhagwanpura (Tarn Taran), a juvenile from Mastgarh (Tarn Taran), Pradeep Singh alias Babbi from Antarjami Colony, and Jarnail Singh from New Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar (Amritsar).
Police recovered:
7 pistols (1 of 9 mm, 4 of .30 bore including a Glock, and 2 of .32 bore)
6 live bullets
A motorcycle used in the operation
The DGP said further investigation is ongoing to find out who supplied the weapons and who was supposed to receive them.
