AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal reaffirmed Bhagwant Mann’s leadership in Punjab on Tuesday, dispelling any speculation about a change in leadership. Following a meeting with Punjab’s AAP legislators, Kejriwal made it clear that Mann will continue as Chief Minister, party sources confirmed.
The meeting, attended by Mann, Cabinet members, MPs, and MLAs, came in the wake of AAP’s recent loss in the Delhi elections. Addressing reporters afterward, Mann dismissed rumors of internal discord. “Our national convenor met with Punjab’s legislators to express gratitude for their efforts in Delhi. In Punjab, we are dedicated to progress in power, education, infrastructure, and healthcare. Our focus is on accelerating development,” he stated.
Reacting to Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa’s claim that 30 AAP legislators from Punjab were in contact with the opposition, Mann responded, “He has been making these claims for nearly three years. Instead, he should reflect on his own party’s repeated failures in Delhi.”
During the meeting, Kejriwal emphasized the significance of winning the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections and urged legislators to stay connected with the public. “He encouraged us to engage with people, understand their aspirations, and deliver on our promises. He assured us that if any obstacles arise in governance, he is available to address them,” a party insider revealed.
Kejriwal also pledged to devote more time to Punjab’s development and instructed legislators to ensure government officials efficiently execute policies. Sources indicated that former Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain would assist Punjab’s education and health departments to expedite projects related to schools and Aam Aadmi Clinics. “This is about guidance, not interference. Delhi leaders will serve as mentors,” a party source clarified, adding that Punjab leaders were urged to remain accessible to volunteers.
Mann reiterated AAP’s commitment to the people’s mandate, stating, “We aim to make Punjab a model state for the entire country. The people of Punjab have always led national movements, and we will uphold that legacy.”
